Bird·B·Gone announced the launch of two new American-made products: SpectrumV Holographic Bird Gel and Avian Block. The company says the installation of SpectrumV and Avian Block is easy, making both products ideal for PMPs who are looking to generate recurring revenue.

SpectrumV Holographic Bird Gel is a low-cost, high-impact sensory bird deterrent that affects all bird species on three different levels:

  • Sight — Holographic reflection technology creates visual hot spots that scare birds away.
  • Smell — A proprietary blend of ingredients creates an aroma that is unpleasant to birds.
  • Sense of Touch — Birds don’t like the sticky sensation of gel on their feet, encouraging them to leave the area.

Avian Block passively distributes a proprietary blend of the bird deterrent methyl anthranilate (grape-seed extract). Bird·B·Gone says Avian Block’s ease-of-use will help PMPs address historically hard-to-treat bird control issues like outdoor restaurants, trees and entryways, or any other scenario where traditional structural bird control products like spikes, nets and tracks can’t be used. The product effectively deters all bird species, is easy to install and is virtually invisible, the company says.

Bird Barrier

Bird Barrier says the wind is a bird’s best friend. It also happens to be its worst enemy. One of Bird Barrier’s newest products is the Bird Breezer, a motion bird scarer. Built out of ABS plastic and placed on a durable double-bearing base, it reflects sunlight to deter approaching birds from landing nearby. Bird Breezer’s four highly visible metalized ABS plastic cups rotate at even the slightest of breeze. Ideal for rooftops, chimneys, parapets and pergolas, Bird Breezer is built to ensure optimal sensitivity, balance and longevity. It’s even able to help reduce bird-related crop damage in agricultural settings, the company says.

Bird Breezer is available in two different varieties. The silver/gold model is exclusively for use deterring land birds while the red model stops marine birds.

Bird-X

Bird-X’s Stainless Steel Bird Spikes are 100 percent effective wherever placed, and are backed by a 10-year warranty, the manufacturer reports. Physical barriers are an effective way to keep birds off surfaces because they eliminate birds’ ability to perch, roost or nest. Stainless Steel Spikes won’t corrode or decay, and install easily with adhesive, nails, screws or ties, the company says. Bird-X Bird Spikes have a flexible polycarbonate base that allows for installation on curved surfaces. With four variations — narrow, regular, extra tall and extra wide — virtually all types of birds can be deterred. Even stubborn birds like seagulls will not land when extra tall spikes are in place, Bird-X reports. Pest management professionals can reduce clean-up time and labor costs with Bird-X Stainless Steel Bird Spikes, the company adds.

Chicago-based Bird-X has spent more than 50 years protecting public areas from more than 60 bird-spread transmissible diseases. A leading international brand of humane bird control solutions, Bird-X manufactures a complete line of unique bird control products, protecting the health of humans, wildlife and the environment by deterring birds from unwanted areas without harming them, the firm says.

Innolytics

EPA recently approved a new label broadening the application options for OvoControl P (nicarbazin). The application of OvoControl was previously limited to automatic wildlife feeders. Innolytics says while this method still represents the most efficient application option, there are customers or circumstances which require manual application of the product. The OvoControl baiting protocol remains effectively identical, the company says, with optional hand-baiting instead of baiting with an automatic feeder.

The steps for application are: 1) establish a rooftop baiting site, 2) condition the birds with pre-bait and 3) monitor and transition to OvoControl.

Innolytics says OvoControl is a ready-to-use bait, dispensed on flat rooftops with an automatic wildlife feeder. This effective and humane technology is especially useful for managing birds in larger areas without avicides or labor-intensive trapping programs, the firm says.

Nixalite of America

Nixalite’s New Fire-Retardant Bird Netting is treated with a fire-proof additive and complies with the NFPA 701 Standard Methods of Fire Test for Flame Propagation of Textiles and Films 2015. This new netting will meet the requirements for sensitive installations requiring fire-retardant netting. Constructed of knotted high- density polyethylene (HDPE), the net is strong, flexible, easy to work with and the small ¾-inch square mesh will exclude almost all bird species, Nixalite of America says.

The company says it offers six different lines of bird netting to accommodate most any netting application from structural to agricultural projects. Nixalite also offers a comprehensive line of netting installation accessories, tools and equipment. The Nixalite Planning Department is available to assist PMPs with bird control projects as well.
